  • Pool Captains weekly stops follow the live service checklist our techs complete in the field -- including deck blow-off, baskets, equipment, skim, vacuum, brush, chemistry, a cleaned-pool photo, and a secured gate.
  • Destin, 30A, and Santa Rosa Beach pools need that full list every week because heat, pollen, and guest use knock water and the deck off balance fast.
  • If a vendor never blows off the deck, never brushes, never tests, or never sends a cleaned-pool photo, that visit is thinner than what our techs check off.

If you own a pool in Destin, along 30A, or in Santa Rosa Beach, "weekly pool service" gets quoted a lot -- and it does not always mean the same thing. At Pool Captains, every routine stop runs against the same service checklist our techs complete in the field. Here is what that visit actually covers.

The checklist our techs complete on a weekly stop

These are the items on our current office service-stop checklist, in the order techs work them.

  1. Blow off pool deck -- leaves and grit off the deck before the water work starts.
  2. Straighten furniture -- chairs and loungers put back so the space looks ready.
  3. Get toys out of the pool -- floats and toys out of the water so cleaning and chemistry can finish clean.
  4. Checked pool chemistry -- readings first, then chemicals added as needed.
  5. Emptied skimmer and pump baskets -- clogged baskets starve flow and spike filter pressure.
  6. Inspected equipment -- pump, filter, and pad get a look for leaks, noise, and anything off.
  7. Backwashed (as needed) -- when the filter type and pressure call for it.
  8. Cleaned pool tile (as needed) -- waterline film and salt crust when they show up.
  9. Skimmed surface -- pollen, pine needles, and leaves off the top.
  10. Vacuumed -- debris off the floor so it does not cloud the water.
  11. Brushed walls and floor -- algae and film get scrubbed before they bloom.
  12. Verified all equipment is out of service mode -- filters and heaters left running the way the home expects.
  13. Took photo of cleaned pool -- the after shot that leads the customer service report.
  14. Confirmed access to the pool is closed and secured -- gate left closed when we leave.

That order is how the stop is logged. Chemistry is not a guess with a random shock bottle, and cleaning is not a five-minute skim.

Chemistry on every visit

Techs record core readings (free chlorine, pH, total alkalinity, calcium hardness, and cyanuric acid, plus salt on SWG pools), then log what was added. Emerald Coast heat and guest load knock those numbers around week to week -- consistent testing is what keeps Destin and 30A water clear.

What you should see after we leave

You should get a blown-off deck, emptied baskets, brushed surfaces, a cleaned-pool photo, and a chemistry trail -- not just a skim. If a quote never mentions the deck, brushing, vacuuming, or those checks, ask what the tech actually checks off.

Weekly service vs Guest Ready Care

Standard weekly pool service is this checklist on a standing route. For rentals and guests, Guest Ready Care adds deck and furniture presentation around check-ins. Related: common Emerald Coast pool problems.

FAQ

How long should a weekly Destin pool visit take?
Long enough to complete the full checklist -- deck, furniture, toys, chemistry, baskets, equipment, skim, vacuum, brush, cleaned-pool photo, and a secured gate -- not a skim-and-go.

Do 30A vacation homes need weekly service when empty?
Yes. Heat and pollen keep working while you are away, and the checklist still applies.

What is the difference vs Guest Ready Care?
Weekly service is the water, deck, and equipment checklist above. Guest Ready Care adds hospitality-level deck presentation around guest turns.

When should I call before the next visit?
Green or cloudy overnight, wrong pump sounds, or filter pressure spikes -- call 850.600.4256.
